Background
I have always considered myself a poet. Ever since I opened Shel Silverstein's Where The Sidewalk Ends at eight years old, I started to write my own poems and said that my first profession would be a poet. I kept that promise, as I am now an English major with aspirations of publishing a poetry book before I graduate in May 2016. In college, students fall in and out of love. During my down time at work, I got the urge to write a poem about my own experience with love. Read or weep! "Disappointment" I am not disappointed because you could not handle what I had to give. It is normal to not always know what is best for you. I am disappointed that you were not willing to just "live". To be willing to take a risk or two. If you had just gone out on a limb, To give our love a chance... We could have had a light that would have never gone dim. A love that would always enhance. What hurts the most is that I tried so hard... So hard to be the moon amongst your darkness. To light your paths when the road got hard. I was so sure that I could mend your brokenness. I am not disappointed in myself, For taking a chance on love. For jumping in so fast... I am disappointed in you because you could not see your potential in yourself.
