The holidays can be a rough time for a lot of people. Even if you do have a relationship with your family, you may have seasonal depression, money worries, or a busy work schedule. On the other hand, you could be experiencing these hardships with no support at all. Whether you need the extra love or not, share these tips with a loved one. We could all use a little self-care this Winter.
Spend the holidays with friends. Whether it's Friendsgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Secret Santa, you need to lean on your friends. Friends can be family too, and you won't have to spend too many days alone in the house. Ask. For. Help! Go on a vacation. This isn't a tip I've followed myself, because broke. However, if you have the money or have been saving for a vacation, use those funds! You can meet new people on your trip or just spend time reflecting on the year by your lonesome. A change of scenery is therapeutic regardless. Binge watch TV. This one is my favorite. I use it year-round, so I'm going to share my favs on each streaming platform. Hulu- Living Single, The Golden Girls, Everybody Hates Chris, The Bernie Mac Show, Four Weddings and a Funeral Netflix- The Office, Grace & Frankie, Chewing Gum, One Day At A Time, Shameless, Marlon, Schitt's Creek Amazon Prime- A Different World, Family Ties, Cheers, Dynasty Hallmark and Lifetime also air plenttttttyyyy of Christmas movies during this time if you recognize the holiday. Whatever you decide to watch, make sure you're laughing! It's free, natural medicine. Practice Yoga. I know, I know. The last thing you want to do is exercise, or even get out of the bed. But here's the catch- depending on the video, you might not have to. Try one of my fav flows for the holiday blues. Unplug from social media. As normal as it is for people to post their presents and family pics, it's also normal for you to be triggered by them. If you feel like the Instagram pics and tweets will kill your mood, mute some folks or delete your apps for a few days. We can always benefit from unplugging, and you can get back to scrolling in January. I hope it's easy for you to choose joy this season. Wishing you a new year of success, peace and healthy love. Hey y'all!
I curated a playlist of my fav Caribbean songs. Caribbean music is more than just reggae- there's ska, soca, etc. A lot of these songs are already popular, but I hope you find some new heat squeezed into the queue. Whine ya waistline, work out, cook or drive to this one. It's perfect!
Thanks for tuning in! See you in 2 weeks.
